Compare the route to help, not invented service scores
For a referral problem, the useful comparison is which official team can inspect the missing step. A code-entry question, a transfer delay, a card transaction and suspected account compromise need different routes. This guide does not rank response quality from isolated reviews or claim a measured wait time.
Start by identifying the institution and product. Questrade self-directed investing and Questwealth are not Wealthsimple products. Likewise, the email published on this website is for questions about these articles; Jason S cannot open your account record, approve a reward or act as either company’s support representative.
Official Canadian contact starting points
| Need | Wealthsimple | Questrade |
|---|---|---|
| Main verified starting point | wealthsimple.com/en-ca/contact | questrade.com/support |
| Account-opening question | Official app/chat or contact-page phone route | Opening-an-account category: 1-888-298-4515 |
| Published general client phone | 1-855-255-9038 | Self-directed/Questwealth support: 1-888-783-7866 |
| Standard Questrade opening phone/chat hours | Use current official availability for the product | Weekdays 7:30 a.m.–8 p.m. ET; weekends 10 a.m.–4 p.m. ET |
| Suspected compromise | Start urgent security chat through the official contact page | Official phone/chat promptly; do not wait for an email reply |
Questrade’s support page defaults to account opening; its official product FAQ contact directory also lists the self-directed and Questwealth number. Specialized trading and other desks have different details. Recheck the correct category before calling, particularly around holidays. “Chat available” is not a guaranteed response deadline or proof that every specialist is online.
Wealthsimple’s contact page offers chat and the Help Centre at any time. That does not establish that every human phone team works around the clock. If the first response is automated, ask the account-specific question in a way that can be routed to the relevant team, then follow the options shown in the official channel.
Prepare a short timeline before contacting support
A support agent needs to identify an event, not guess what “my bonus is broken” means. Prepare a brief private note with the dates that matter: application started, code entered or accepted, first qualifying money received, any additional funding, account opened and a relevant notice. Keep the original confirmation for yourself.
Separate the expected result from the observed result. For example: “I expected the referral to appear after completing signup; the referral history shows no referrer.” That asks about attribution. “The referrer appears, but the reward is absent” asks about funding, eligibility or payment. The same generic request can otherwise be routed repeatedly without resolving the actual checkpoint.
If a screenshot helps, capture only the relevant message and send it through the verified channel after removing unrelated private details. A public forum, this website’s email address and a referrer’s direct message are not suitable places for a Social Insurance Number, identity document, bank statement or authentication code.
Wealthsimple and Questrade have different missed-code rules
For Wealthsimple, start with the missing-bonus decision guide: determine whether the issue is the linked referrer, qualifying funding, payout account or timing. A new signup link does not correct an existing client’s account. Ask Wealthsimple to inspect the relevant event in its own records.
For Questrade, check whether an account number has already been issued. Its referral FAQ says help with adding a code is available before that point and says it cannot be added afterward. The Questrade code-entry guide explains the browser/app checkpoints. Do not transfer one institution’s late-code window to the other.
A fictional example: Ana has not completed a Questrade application and cannot find the code field. An account-opening request before proceeding is more relevant than a reward-payment complaint. Another fictional example: Ben’s existing Wealthsimple account shows an intended referrer, but he has a Chequing-related notice. His next question should identify the payout-account condition, rather than asking to replace the referral. Neither example promises approval.
A useful message template
For a missed Wealthsimple code, use the PGVORW message template; the version below is the general shape for either broker.
I need help checking a referral on my account. I started the application on [date], entered the intended referral code on [date], and my funding shows [status/date]. The screen currently says [exact short message]. Please confirm which requirement is incomplete, the date your records use, and the next action available under the applicable offer. Please provide a case reference for follow-up.
Include only the code for the institution you are contacting. Wealthsimple code PGVORW and Questrade code 306030314488569 belong to separate programs. A different code is not a remedy for a missed deadline, an already-linked intended referrer or an ineligible account.
When the response arrives, compare it with your original question. If it addresses the wrong product or date, reply with one precise correction. Ask which published term applies and what evidence is missing. Avoid starting several parallel cases unless support requests it; repeating the same facts across disconnected conversations can make your own record harder to follow.
Follow up with the case reference and the right product route
If a promised update date passes, use the existing case reference, state the date and ask for the current status. Asking for a review or a supervisor can be appropriate when the explanation remains inconsistent, but it does not override account eligibility or create a right to a bonus.
Wealthsimple’s complaint directory separates Chequing/cards from trading, managed investing and crypto. Use the route matching the product. For example, a disputed card fee should not be sent to an investment-transfer process simply because both appear in one app. The card and Chequing complaint page and investment complaint page explain their respective procedures.
Questrade’s relationship disclosure points clients to the detailed complaint procedure in their account agreements and client portal. Ask for that procedure if ordinary support does not resolve the issue. Keep dates, correspondence and the outcome requested. A formal complaint is a review process, not a guaranteed exception or payment.
For suspected fraud, skip the ordinary bonus timeline
If you see an unauthorized action, believe your password is known or receive an unsolicited “bonus release” payment request, use the institution’s official security route promptly. Questrade’s security centre expressly recommends phone or chat for suspicious activity rather than email. Wealthsimple’s verified contact page has an urgent security chat route.
Navigate to the app or type the institution’s domain yourself. A familiar logo, caller name or referral code does not authenticate an incoming message. Never give a referrer your password, PIN or one-time code, and never pay a publisher to unlock a reward. For questions about wording in these guides, use our safe website-contact instructions; for private account decisions, stay with the institution.
What to do next
Choose the support route by the missing step, keep the case reference and ask for a clear next action tied to the applicable terms. This independent website cannot inspect private accounts or approve rewards. If you use a referral shared here, the referrer may receive a reward; that relationship does not make the publisher an official support agent.
Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
What is the official Wealthsimple support phone number?
Wealthsimple’s official Canadian contact page lists 1-855-255-9038. Verify it on wealthsimple.com/en-ca/contact before calling, and use the product or security route shown there. Chat availability does not mean every human phone specialist is available 24 hours a day.
Which Questrade number should I call about a new account?
The official account-opening category lists 1-888-298-4515. Existing self-directed and Questwealth support is listed as 1-888-783-7866 in its official contact directory. Choose the current category at questrade.com/support because specialized desks and hours differ.
Can a manager add any missed referral code?
There is no universal manager override. Questrade’s published cutoff is tied to account-number creation; Wealthsimple has its own referral and support rules. You can ask for an explanation or review, but approval and any reward remain subject to the applicable program.
Should I email my account number or ID to the referral website?
No. This publisher does not need private account records to answer a website question. Keep passwords, verification codes, banking details, identity documents and sensitive statements out of email or social messages to a publisher. Use the institution’s verified authenticated process for account verification.
Does this comparison prove one company has better support?
No. It compares official contact routes and practical request preparation. It does not measure response times, resolution rates or individual account outcomes. A few positive or negative forum experiences cannot establish a reliable ranking for every client.
